Bangkok Synthetics Co., Ltd. (BST) and BST Elastomers Co., Ltd. (BSTE), leaders in the petrochemical industry, led by Mr. Sunthorn Prasopchingchana, Managing Director, announced their commitment to driving the organization toward sustainability by organizing a special activity for World Environment Day on June 5, 2026, under the concept "The Green Shift: Close, Adjust, Change for a Sustainable World."
This activity focused on campaigning for employee participation in waste reduction and maximizing resource utilization through the "Bring Caps (and Bottles) to Join the Activity" campaign to concretely pass them into the recycling process. This was divided into 2 parts: used plastic bottles (PET) will be processed and recycled into "monk robes," and plastic bottle caps will be recycled and processed into "clothes hangers." The donation drop-off points were located at the Success Together Room (BST Site 1) and Room 101 (NBL Site 2).
At the event, a large number of employees united to donate used plastic drinking water bottles (PET) and bottle caps. In addition to helping reduce waste and protect the environment, participants also had a chance to win special prizes from a Lucky Draw at the event, which concluded with a 1-hour lights-off campaign to reduce unnecessary electricity consumption.
The results of this activity helped reduce electricity consumption (Green hour) by approximately 99 kWh, accounting for a greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction of up to 50 kgCO2e (equivalent to planting 5.5 trees), representing electricity cost savings of 326 Baht. Furthermore, the "Clear Bottles, Making Merit" activity can use the collected recyclable materials to produce approximately 210 monk robes (from approximately 3,145 bottles).
"The Green Shift" activity reflects the green corporate culture that BST and BSTE continuously promote, aligning with the organization's core values in collaboration and operational efficiency (Proactive & Agile, Collaborative, Effective) to jointly create a sustainable future for society and the environment.
